A few things

Goemon -> I saw it, don't know what to say. If you have it on blueray then I suppose it would be more enjoyable. Overall it was really a slice and dice flick, and with good CG. I'd give it a (generous) 6/10 as the first half of the movie was way better than the second half. The action in the second half was awful. I could point out certain things, but I might be spoiling so I'll leave it at that for action. I guess watch it if you are ryoko fan.

Departures -> Yes, it was a pretty good movie. The reaction of Ryoko towards her husband when she found out his occupation really does show how the general public views them. Its just not something people "choose" to be in, supposedly, historically these undertakers had to live separate from their families and they were considered contaminated. Which reminds me of that issue with historical google map pointing out the regions where undertakers use to likely reside and this in turn actually effecting land prices TODAY. Of course i have no proof of it, as it was just a random work topic.

hmmm what else was there...... my memory is failing me, i guess i'll have to come back!

@Mimaki- I'll get round to Swing Girls and Last Friends since my sister keeps plugging them to me. Right after Akihabara@Deep. Just started it today. I. F@cking. Love. It. Akira is so bloody cool. XoX

Ohhhh I know, I know, that one is awesome! You won't regret watching it, it was probably the funniest dorama I've ever watched (it doesn't have much drama either =D). There are SO MANY parodies thrown in, and the characters are portrayed as real otaku, not some stereotype. And Daruma is just......XD
Akira is cool indeed, but she can't spell words correctly xD Here's a small clip I love and it shows it very well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdwCTHissWk
There are other times she can't spell them too... XD But Page is probably funnier on his spelling, specially when he (tries to) says "sakusen kaigi da!" he can never say it properly...
Ah well! I love that dorama, I'm sure it'll make you laugh a lot XD (specially if you're into anime and manga and all that)

I've seen the movie of AKIHABARA@DEEP too, but this one is more based on the novel/manga and it's totally different from the dorama... personally, I liked the dorama better. It was a lot more fun and creative (the movie was quite predictable actually).

There's a biiiig difference between Swing Girls and LAST FRIENDS... I'd say, LAST FRIENDS is indeed awesome because of the story, but Swing Girls would be more suitable if you want a comedy. LF is really... drama, lol. But I find it very good how they get us to know about each characters personality and their own stories, and it shows a lot of how strong friendships can be, actually. If you analyze the series the same way I did....
About what stov said... I think LF is a lot more "real" than most doramas I've seen around. o.O
And I mean it... those situations do happen in real life and people's reactions would be pretty similar. And if you mean the end... (I won't spoil anything) ...it's like I said, I think of that as a sign of how strong friendship bonds can be. And that's why... that is possible. You get it, ne? XD (I really don't wanna say spoilers here, lol)

But back to movies... if you watched the anime Mushishi (or even if you didn't) maybe you'd like the live action as well... it's actually a pretty decent adaptation (which is rare!). Some stories were repeated, and some where changed... and there are new ones as well, but it's overall a good movie.

And... I have Uzumaki as well. You know... Raven's Uzumaki, lol. (that's why I got the movie, obviously) But that one is...weird. Definitely weird. Not recommended. xD (the acting is really bad too...) I haven't read the manga so I wouldn't know if it's good as an adaptation...

Now... Taiyou no Uta, ne? The movie.
YUI, NE. YUI. XD
Isn't that enough? lol (yeah, that was why I downloaded the movie, but...) ...but it's actually a good one. Sad, but it has funny parts as well and the whole story is good. And it has YUI. <3
She plays her own songs there too and ah... well, do watch it, it's good!
...and YUI is there! how many times do I have to repeat it? XD

@Mima

While I'm watching that drama I just keep wondering myself where the hell the technology called AV recording device has gone? x_X

I'm not blaming the love fool like her (Masami? Well, you know, that girl) but it just getting stupid the way they handle Ryo xD

But like I said, the story itself is good -- it just the follow up of their response for it is disappointing me. The ending is acceptable. But I KNOW -- this drama was quite a big hit for many people xD even for Utada Hikaru lol (yea she freaked out with this series on her blog that time lol) regardless of her as the theme singer for this series hahaha.

I've been waiting that movie forever! T_T
Since I heard about Juri filming a new movie, and I'd ocassionally see commercials on CDTV and other japanese TV programs, and photos and stuff....I can't believe it's STILL only on the big screen. It is, right?
Anyway, after it's released on DVD it'll have to get subbed and then uploaded...I hope it won't take much time.
Well, "april bride" can be found for download already, and I remember when it was on teathers.. even though I don't know if I'd enjoy that movie... it's too drama/romance to me, and it seems like it'll have a sad ending. And it envolves marriage, terminal disease, etc (all those cliches lol) But I did like the theme song, so I'm wondering if I should get it... xD (it has Eita too.. he was in Nodame Cantabile and LAST FRIENDS and I consider him as a good actor)
So anyway... this movie looks REALLY funny, I just hope it'll come out already... xD
And then I'm gonna wait for Nodame Cantabile's 2010 movies, I can't wait... *__* (nodakan fan? for sure! ...and juri xD)

One that I've been waiting to come out too is that Yamagata Scream one... dunno if you heard about that one, but it looks pretty funny too (and btw, "Hanky Punky" by Superfly is the theme song =D)
Here's the teaser trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeBOaMJtjHs
I saw many CMs of it on CDTV too, and it looks very funny XD

Plus, I've been wanting to get Dororo but I dunno if it's worth it... I've seen comments about it in this topic, but still...I wonder if it isn't a loss of time (or ratio xD).. maybe I should get it before it has no seeders....

@stov: right... now I get what you mean. XD
Yeah, well.... Michiru (Masami) makes you want to punch her more than Sousuke (Ryo) does. Seriously... they're all trying to protect her and she's all like "oh my dear poor Sousuke ;_;" I get her character BUT it makes me want to punch her... XD
But... yeah, why didn't they call the police already? He'd lose his job in a blink of an eye. But maybe THAT was why... since Michiru still loved him and they didn't want it to hurt HER. I see that thing worrying them the whole series too, like how the things they could do to Sousuke can affect Michiru... and all they're trying to do is to keep her happy and safe. Though of course, her mad love for him won't allow her to stay away from him even though she knows he would hit her >.>
Anyway, it's a good sight into people's hearts... I think they focused on that so much that forgot to add better situations to the plot... maybe? I mean, it does have good situations, but that one with Takeru (Eita) and Sousuke on the chairs... well, I wonder if something like that is really possible or if Ruka's father was right afterall xD (about Takeru, he told her "he looks weak.." xD)

And I didn't know Utada freaked out over that XD So she was a fan too? That's nice, and btw... the opening song is awesome, and it fits the series so much. Plus.....that HAS to be the best dorama opening ever. I've never seen an op explain the whole story of the dorama and the characters SO well and in such a simple way... and yet, it was perfect and accurate. If anyone around here didn't see it yet, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdnaSTLABQs
I got REALLY addicted to that song at the time, lol.
And btw, I heard Juri had a fight with the staff since she didn't agree something about her character... she even confirmed it on an interview. It seems they wanted Ruka to say something that Juri thought didn't match Ruka's character and she'd never say something like that (in the end... it seems she did get it the way she wanted, but the directors even cut out many Ruka parts on the last episode and special)
I think she understood her character better, I also don't think that line would fit Ruka.. ^^" It was only a minor detail, but it really would change things a lot. It's good when someone is so loyal to the character they're playing.
Speaking of which, they said (I think it was Masami?) she really got into the character, changing her way of walking, talking, sitting.. to fit Ruka's, even when she was outside the studio. In order to get in the character's mood (or atmosphere?), she'd do it the whole time, but without letting it change her own identity.
When asked how it is to have her hair cut so short to interpret Ruka, Juri said: I don't have to use much shampoo ^_^ (XD)

That clip is epic. I love how she's trying not to laugh. I think Box does it too in the last ep I watched (5), where they're in the model shop trying to look inconspicuous and then Daruma and Box start slapping each other. Also, that scene when Daruma gets cracked on the head with a bat. Masterful. How does he keep a straight face?! LOL. bowdown.gif bowdown.gif
Does the film follow on from the series? If you recommend it then I'll definitely look it up.

Oh I'll definitely get around to LF, I look forward to seeing Juri in a more serious role.

And I've only seen one Yui film. She's got a skin condition or something, which means she can't have direct contact with sunlight. Sad ending. Is it that one?

Err when I said Box I meant Taiko. I've finished Akihabara@Deep btw, it was blooooody awesome. The maid cafe episode was highly inappropriate though. But... lol.

I found Departures on dvd but there aren't any subtitles. I suppose I could start Last Friends.

Sorry I didn't read every single comment. OK I only read the two last posts. If anyone hadn't recommended 20th Century Boys, then that's my recommendation. The story is pretty good....At first I thought it was gonna be boring, but it kept me interested in what's gonna happen next. It's good...Check it out.
