I don't know, but for girls it might look cute, fashion or cool, since girls take away all the good thing in appearance...

But for boys, or perhaps general -- is it weird? Dorky, geek whatsoever.

i don't know, it used to be normal enough before earbuds. personally i can't stand earbuds anyway so maybe im not qualified to judge

the thing about medium-sized over the ear headphones is you look like a telemarketer or something. but jumbo sized phones = definite fashion statement or showing you belong to some audiophile clique

I see plenty of people wearing headphones when I'm out, so I don't think anyone should feel discriminated for doing so. I mean there's gotta be some difference in quality of sound between earphones and headphones. Headphones are infinitely more comfortable I reckon... I'm still gonna use earphones for my MD player though. XD

Some people can pull it off
some cant.
so......meh.

I agree with davus
"but jumbo sized phones = definite fashion statement or showing you belong to some audiophile clique"

however, to me these people seem like douchebags.
"hey look at me, im in a clique and you're not, im so unique and cool"
etc....

There is a HUGE quality diffrence in sound reproduction.
I can't even use 'in ear' phones...I'd go insane!

I wear my set anywhere I go..
For me, its more of "why would I wear crummy, tiny, plastic headphones that make my ears hurt after 20 minutes? Ontop of the fact the sound reproduction is a joke. When I can wear my gardos and rox down the street."

I suppose its your own limits.
If you like them and don't want to be listening to peolpe rant on public trans or people gossiping on the street, its a fashion statement you'll have to be willing to take!

@mav:
haha, or either trying to say

"i can't hear you, don't talk to me" or
"talk to me, don't you curious?"

I know there's a lot of "stylish" gigantic jumbo headphones out there, but the one who also sounds great is ridiculously expensive...

AKGk271, or sens hd650 / 595 --

anyway, full headphones usually have a long cord (10 feet / 3 meter) -- the shorter one are coiled which is kind of heavy to let it hanging.

How do you guys (who wear headphones in public) take care of it?

I wear my big headphones out sometimes ... I feel a little awkward, but I do get better sound, and in any case my earbuds are starting to die, so I won't have a choice soon anyway. The cord is definitely annoying, I tend to just sling it around the strap of my backpack or messenger bag, but I haven't found a good solution yet.

It's true giant headphones can make you look like a douche, but I figure people can go ahead and judge me based on whatever they want; I'm not wearing them as a statement (though a lot of people certainly are).

It think it's okay to wear ear cup headphones. As most people said, the sound reproduction is much better than ear bud or normal headphones. Plus many ear cup headphones are foldable and have coiled cords which make it easier to manage.

If you have closed cup headphones you can tune out the world's noises and no one can really hear your music. sleep.gif The open cup headphones gain better sound quality but people can hear your loud music. unsure.gif

it'll take some soul searching to decide whether you're wearing them to get noticed or for the audio quality. or both... maybe you want to be noticed by people who listen for audio quality?

I see it on campus all the time, it doesn't bother me.

haha i dont think it makes a difference in terms of "fashion" or looking weird/good.. it looks normal? and as for earbuds not hanging properly.. it's called neck chain? buying the ones that are one side longer and other side shorter.. so they hang around your neck?

lol I see plently of guys wearing headphones and it depends on how their face looks. If you look nice then you would look nice with a nice pair of headphones.

I'm looking for some right now, and it's hard to find some good looking ones and ones that aren't too bulky =/

I prefer regular headphones, the ones that plug into your ear are not good for your hearing.

I voted normal but personally think it's a mixed bag.

Sometimes people wear crappy/generic but big cans in public just to look douchey or while walking and that kinda defeats the purpose of getting clean sound. iPods aren't known for their great sound either so it just adds to that.

Don't think I've really seen anyone wearing nice cans with an amp, I'm guilty too but I'm just waiting to justify that purchase since my "new" Zune creates interference from the HD spinning up and when changing tracks that I want to clean up.

As a guy, I find it somewhat awkward walking around with full gear on while in public. Most of the time, I enjoy having a sense of awareness around me and with full headphones on, you almost feel like you're in your own little world. I usually just wear my Bose headphones in the comfort of my own home. I love the bass action on my Bose. One thing normal headphones can't make up for.

I think it's kinda weird...but hey who am I.
For me it would not be wise to use those full headphones, cos i will end up in jail for sure.
So I use the little ones (sennheiser cx300).

Because I have to cross the streets a lot at night, also through a part with a fairly high risk of getting robbed
when they see something valuable. And I'm not the kind of person who lets himself get robbed by any idiot
who's too lazy to get a job. But unfortunately our laws protect the criminals better than the victims,
so when I (accidentally ofc. ) kick his @ss into a hospital (or into a coffin bunevil.gif) they will lock me up (;_;).

some facts...
There was a man ones who killed a burglar who stepped into his bedroom at night and after a fight the burglar died
and the police arested the guy for that. (give the guy a bloody medal I would say).

Even our soldiers in Afghanistan and Irak cant use their weapons if needed, because they will be prosecuted if they do.

But hey...what to expect from a prime minister who is a look-a-like of Harry Potter.
Hmm....I'm going off-topic ....sry.

extreme. and highly improbable. i think there is a fine line between what some deem as need and others deem as crime in regards to firearms during war. but at the end of the day if you're ordered not to engage in hostiles and you disobey, when you get court-martialled. even if it's through a special branch of the civilian court, firing in "need" during war carries much less of an offense that there is in general self defence.

anyways, back to headphones - i bought myself a pair of Space Invaders 30th Anniversary headphones. Sound is pretty horrendous, but they're awesome looking.

i love senns, and am looking to get a pair. but i'm also liking skull candy designs atm. anyone own a pair and wanna give a run down on how they sound?
